During the months of March and April, every Wednesday and Friday nights we will hold a program for both Intermediate and Advanced level tango dancers.

Back in Buenos Aires

We are finally back home for summer! Not that we don't like to travel and visit all the friends we have made along the way, but there is nothing like being home, sleeping in your bed, working in your office... etc... We are here in Buenos Aires until our next European tour (programmed for March 17th-April 21st), from there we will continue to the US, from where we will continue to Australia and New Zealand. Our complete schedule will be posted once we have confirmed all the dates and places. For now, private lessons, group classes, and special seminars in Buenos Aires. Snow in Seattle

We finished off our Northern Hemisphere tour by spending a couple of weeks in Seattle. Due to an unexpected but well recieved change in our plans, we found ourselves staying with Michelle Badion, a local dance instructor who has been a pillar in the Seattle Dance community for the past 15 years or so... she was a great host who cracked us up every day with her humor and smiles. The space we found for teaching the workshops is one of my favorite places to teach, HaLo (or Hallies Loft) is a very large loft space located on Pike St with a great floor, and a great view of downtown Seattle. We had a great bunch of students, and were able to work through a lot of solid technique and information with those guys and gals. We cannot wait to be back in Seattle and spend some more time with friends and loved ones.

I left my heart in Turkiye

I left my heart at Murat's apartment in Ankara, Turkiye. That always means we have a good excuse to visit again soon! We had a fantastic time in Ankara - as usual... a little stress about making sure we meet the communities standards - as well as our own - in terms of how much we give and making sure it is the best quality we can give. We had many memorable meals with great friends. For those of you who don't know... the turkish food is amazing. Thank you again, Mine, Murat, Tugva, Kerem for that spectacular dinner. We even had a great suprise... Serkan and Ohzan came to Ankara to be with us while we taught workshops and performed... there is no greater emotional support than friends who come to be by your side and give you there support. The workshops were a lot of fun - as we practised our turkish vocabulary and the students helped us with pronunciation! We can't wait to be back in Turkiye again.

Berlin, Germany...

We really didn't know what to expect arriving to Berlin. We knew a little about the city and it's historical value as a piece of European History... but nothing about their modern society. The city is fantastic. The prices are very accessible to every aspect of the economic community. The architecture is amazing (if you like that sort of stuff), and the food was great! Now about the tango community. We met Rafael and Susanne (our organizers) in Buenos Aires. They are a young couple whose approach to tango is very fluid, natural, and friendly. We had a great time with their students (and them). The milongas they took us to where well attended and in general very nice. We performed at Ballhaus Rixdorf (a very nice venue), and had a great time dancing with our other friends - Constantine, Nico, Claudia. We took lots of pictures during our visit to Berlin... when we arrive back to Buenos Aires (soon) I will upload and share them with you all in our Picassa Gallery.

We finished our workshops, our performance, celebrated Claudia Jacobson's birthday (29 ;-)... it all made for a great way to end our weekend and also the 1st weekend of our tour here in Europe.
Hugo introduced us to his music, some wonderful Dutch cheeses, some nice places to eat and have something to drink. There was a wonderful atmosphere the whole week long. We will miss you Hugo and Marieke, we can't wait to be back with you in Rotterdam (or Buenos Aires - which ever one comes first!)

Quick trip to Euope

We finished classes in Buenos Aires, and are off to Europe for a very quick tour of 3 cities. We are looking forward to catching up with friends we haven't seen for a long time, and some serious dancing.

Yellowstone National Park

Back from Yellowstone National Park... not many floors to dance on, but you sure get quick feet when you come face to face with bears (especially a mother bear with a cub). Anabella and I were on our way back down Mt Washburn when we came around the corner to see a sow and her cub... she growled a couple of times, the cub went up the tree, and we stayed put talking to the bear to make sure she didn't feel threatened as we gave her some space. I guess we were in the right spot to see bears... this year at Dunraven Pass there was also a Grizzly (sow) with 4 cubs, and on the way up Mt Washburn we saw a black bear (bull) digging up rotten tree stumps for ants, larvae, and other goodies. Pics soon to come!

Mario's b-day. It always happens that when my b-day comes around, we are working somewhere, we have to dance... or I am not with my family. This year we ended up performing at Dance Underground (thanks Tony and Ilana). As soon as we finished performing, Ilana led everyone in the milonga in "happy birthday". It was great, I can't remember the last time I had so many people to celebrate my birthday with. On top of that Manuela and my mom (Daria) brought Champagne and Cake for everybody to enjoy. Sorry if you didn't get any!!! I had a big piece.

Now we are off to yellowstone national park for Anabella's first time there!!! If we don't get eaten by grizzly bears, wolves or gored by elk/bison we will be back to teach workshops for everybody here in Seattle the 25th/26th.

Wooowwww,
It was hot down in New Orleans. We had a great time playing in the sun at the beach, swimming with the fishies, getting stung by jellyfish we couldn't see, watching dolphins from our beachfront balcony, chasing wild balls while playing paddle ball. We were with Fuad and Kathy, and our gracious hosts - Fred and Sandy. Anabella had a bad reaction to the sun/heat... her arms swole like she had been pumping serious weights, and she was kind of cranky with me... oh well, she got better real fast.

The workshops in New Orleans and Baton Rouge were a hoot! The people were entertained with learning, they were so easy to work with. After Sundays last class we headed over to Mr Carpenters house to break in his new bbq pit and celebrate another funfilled and successful trip to New Orleans/Baton Rouge.

Back in Seattle... we tried a different format of workshops to see how the participants respond... seems like feedback was fairly positive. Workshops by invitation may exclude some members in the community from the chance to learn, however... it gives those who are already familiar with the instructors a great chance to get more intimate learning in a smaller group setting. We worked the sweat out of the people. Everybody was tired at the end of both days, we covered a lot of material and some fun information.

Off to New Orleans/Baton Rouge, and a few days of rest and relaxation at Orange Beach (between Alabama and Florida - Alarida or Floribama). We can't wait to see Fuad and Kathy again!

Well, it has taken my a little while to sort through photos and post something about Vancouver. Sandra was once again our wonderful host. Hard boiled eggs, toast, jam, and strong coffee (she is Scottish) and makes a mean breakfast :-)

The lessons were great, all the usual faces where there, we had a great bbq with everybody afterwards on Sunday Afternoon. Good to see some recovering heroes , Claude and John who have made brave and strong recoveries from battling health issues.

Vancouver is such a beautiful city and the people are so friendly. Willie took us to her brother's sushi restaraunt (yummm). We hung out with Sierra and Nico on Denman beach and then went to visit Deborah and Santiago at their new condo. Deborahs belly was huge, she is almost ready to give birth... she was adorable, and they are going to be great parents.

My Dad's Wedding...

They say the 3rd time is a charm. Mariah, my dads new bride and best friend, sure is a nice lady... she is always smiling, and she is sooo in love with my old man. I haven't seen my Dad so happy in a long time. Pretty much all of his side of the family was there... except Grandma Lois (hmm). My dad has always said he is not a dancer, but he sure seemed to have twinkly toes when they did their wedding dance!!! Way to go pops!
Next stop is Vancouver, then Seattle, then New Orleans/Baton Rouge, then our last time in Seattle before we head back to Buenos Aires.... brrrrrrr... at least spring is coming soon :-)

Finished in Chicago...

Ok, we just wrapped up another fun filled weekend of teaching and performing in Chicago. We had the chance to enjoy a little bit of the city, see some nice historical buildings, smell the food at the "Taste of Chicago". The venues of the festival were beautiful, the attendance was nice, people were very friendly, we had some nice moments with colleagues and friends. Ezequiel and Geraldine danced Saturday night in the Gala Milonga (wow)... what an elegant couple! We saw Phoebe and Leroy, haven't seen them in a long time. Also had coffee with one of my favorite couples (Somer and Agape). We will upload the photos shortly!!!

Workshops in Seattle

We are back in Seattle for a week before we head off on the road for a couple of weeks. A short series of workshops hosted by Kamran + Colleen will be our re-introduction to the Seattle tango scene.

Room: 109 - Please plan to arrive 20 mins prior to class, allow plenty of time for parking, due to farmer's market. All workshops are for Intermediate/Advanced level dancers.

So Sad... We have finished our tour of Australia. We wrapped up another great weekend of workshops (in Sydney this time), hosted by Club de Tango. They run their own tango program, organize and milonga, run regular classes and travel all over Australia to help build other tango communities. We had great support in the workshops, attended by a slew of locals as well as some visitors from other states in Australia. A big thank you to Peter and Lisa (Club de Tango) for hosting us and taking good care of us while we where in Sydney. We will miss the great food, friendly smiles, big blue skies, clean air, and plenty of space.

Finished in Perth... off to Sydney

Ok, so fish and chips can be scary some times... a bad experience left me hurling my chunks in the middle of the last night of workshops in Perth. Sorry guys... didn't see that one coming. Anyhow a full weekend of workshops, a couple special workshops for those who couldn't get enough. A huge thanks to Mr Rod Daniells for stepping up to bat for us in Perth, to everybody in the Perth Tango Club, as well as the Perth Tango Community for having us there and supporting our work. Geoff and Patrique thank you for the time you spent with us :-) Jilanne thanks for looking after us during the workshops, the rest of the commitee members who helped us but didn't get to spend more time with, thanks! We can't wait to see you guys in BA or next year back in Perth! Cheers mate :-)

Melbourne leg of the tour

Anabella and I have a dear friend in Seattle, who says "It just doesnt get any better than this", and that about sums it up... we are having a great time in Australia. We worked in Melbourne with a fantastic pair of organizers (who covered for the blundering Mrs. Jarman) - this would be none other than David and Dianne. Thank you two so much for having us with you, to your studio, to your homes, for making us feel like family, and for letting us know that there are decent organizers in Melbourne with the integrity and honour it takes to build tango communities. The workshops were filled with eager minds and bodies, the milonga was great. We also had a chance to spend time with some local argentinos (Hilda, Jose, Mabel, Alfredo... thanks for having that beautiful asado to share with us). Diannes husband Steve is an astrologer, and gave us some very interesting info on Anabella's chart. Thank you Melbourne! With work done in Melbourne we are over the halfway hump of our tour in Australia. On to Perth :-)

Cleland Park with Mark and Rachel

On our last free day here in Adelaide, Mark and Rachel had planned to take us to Cleland Nature Park in the hills of Adelaide. The kangaroos, wallabies, potaroos, and emus all roam the park free - making it easy for visitors to approach and interact with Australias natural wildlife. We bought a few bags of "Roo Food" to feed the kangaroos. They eat right out of your hands!!!
We watched the dingos at lunch time (watch those fingers kids!), and we also went to the Koala exhibit to pet and hold the Koalas (and snap some shots). We had a great time, then we came home to make dinner for Mark, Rachel, Ben and Megan (pennoni rigatoni al pesto with a walnut/pear/roquefort salad). It was the nicest way to end a week of great work and getting to know these friends better :-)

Siempre Tango - TangoMania 2007

We have just finished our weekend of workshops and milongas with Siempre Tango in Adelaide. Thanks to Mark , Rachel, Ben + Megan, Tizziana... for having us and spending time with us showing Anabella and I the prettier sites of Adelaide. We hope you liked the penne-pesto!

Special thanks to Mark and Libby for hosting Tango Mania's closing milonga at their beautiful winery in Adelaide's nearby hills (McLaren Vale). The wine was great!!!

Thanks to everybody who came to the workshops, and help to support the events. We had a great time with everyone in Adelaide... look forward to being back next year :-)

Here in Australia

We are now here in Australia. The weather is nice, we had a few beautiful days next to the beach at Coogee Bay (Sydney). Now we are with Dana and Serkan in Canberra, they are the only teachers and organizers bringing in international artists to stimulate their local community.
